Waiting is something that can occur everywhere for any situation and people do not to waste their time on unproductive activities. “Customer dissatisfaction with delays in receiving service often can stimulate strong emotions, even anger” (Wirtz, Chew, & Lovelock, 2012). However, the wait time in certain situation does not affect always affect the person in a psychologically way. The psychology of waiting time are suggestions that can help the person be less stressful when waiting. The psychology of waiting time can involve in situations like in the supermarket, waiting in a ticket line for an event that could be sold out, and waiting at the bus stop on a rainy dark evening. People are dealing with long periods of wait time in different ways depending on their situation.

In a supermarket, customers are always dealing with long line-ups when they are checking out their items. Express-checkouts lanes cause customers to waiting time in line in a supermarkets because customers with less items to check-out tends to get faster and special service. Depending on the situation, people do not want to waste their time on whether they are at the checkout lane at a store or it is something else. The psychology of wait time can help supermarkets resolve the unfair waits in line for customers, would not have a negative affect for people waiting in line for concert tickets, and can worry people when waiting for the bus at the bus stop. For each scenario, they can have different suggestions that can improve the situation and make the person less stressful.
