After the decree by Sufi Mohammad from jail that no woman should be educated, even at madrasas, many girls had to drop out. Their parents were afraid to disobey, or they could be publically whipped or killed. Radio Mullah named girls that had left school and said they would go to heaven. Fazullah preached against education and said those that went to school could go to hell. Malala’s father was even threatened and wrote a letter to the Daily Azadi in response to the threat: “Please don’t harm my children, because the God you believe in is the same God they pray to everyday.
