In the first stanza, the phrase “Two roads diverge in a yellow wood” (The Road Not Taken, line 1) contains evoking, descriptive language. Readers automatically visualize a road that splits into two completely different paths, referring to the choices provided. The word “yellow” illustrates the atmosphere of the setting as bright and sunny, depicting the sense of sight while the word “morning” sets the time of day. In the quote “In leaves no step had trodden black” as well as “Because it was grassy and wanted wear” (The Road Not Taken, line 8), both depict the fresh new leaves, free from sod or dirt.
