The League of Nations was founded in January, 1920 after World War I. The League of Nations was one of the factors that started WWII. The league failed because a few of the world powers declined to join (Russia, Germany, and the United States). Then, the UN was founded to establish world peace, and overall create a better society. Furthermore, the UN created the Security Council to be in charge of world peace and security. There are 15 members, five of whom are permanent with veto power.
