He has the need to control everything. He demands obedience through others like his wife and daughter. Lord Capulet created to much pressure on everyone causing more tragedy to the story. For example, Capulet said,“Out, you baggage/You tallow-face” (3.5.161-162) towards Juliet. This quote shows how outraged Capulet is to Juliet. He is disappointed in Juliet for her rebellious and insists she has no choice in marriage. This obedience that Capulet’s character involves around is very important to understand. If Lord Capulet didn’t have the need of controlling others then Juliet wouldn’t have to be pressured into marrying Paris. Then no plan would have been needed for Romeo and Juliet since they could be together. There is a chance that Juliet might not have died because her dad would not have been controlling her. His character was filled with unjustified hope. Friar Lawrence introduced a plan that has a low possibility of happening. He established this falsehood between Romeo and Juliet throughout this plan of his. This whole image he created for the couple never really worked. For instance, Friar Lawrence said,“Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift/And hither shall he come; and he and I/Will watch thy waking, and that very night/Shall Romeo bear thee hence to Mantua.” (4.1.116-119) This quote shows evidence that Friar Lawrence stated with his own words of getting Romeo back to Juliet. As a result he was wrong and the plan never worked. This is showing how he lifts up their hope. Truly, if the plan was never existence then Romeo and Juliet would not be dead.
