The next day the Franks were transported to the Huis van Bewaring or in English, House of Detention, a prison. Two days later, they were transported to the Westerbork transit camp. For they should've passed that camp and gone to the next camp, but they could not because they had been arrested in hiding. The Franks were considered criminals. After a long time spent at the Westerbork transit camp Anne and her sister Margot got transported to a concentration camp called, Bergen Belsen. Anne was very sad because the rest of her family and friends were still at Westerbork transit camp.
At Bergen Belsen, Anne and Margot were severely tortured by the Nazis. Anne had been picked for the gas chamber many times but almost always escaped it. Anne could not take seeing young children being led into the chamber and then never seeing them again.
