The Vampire Alternate Ending

“Yep.”
“So why do you look like your heart is breaking?”
Damon grimaces at the soft question. Ric continues, strangely encouraged by the mildly angsty display.
“I’m lost, too, you know? Feel like I’ve forgotten something important, but I know it’s just…you.”
The vampire’s expression softens and is replaced with a curious moue. He closes the gap between them, moving close enough to touch, but carefully avoids contact.
“You don’t see anything at all? You’re sure it’s gone.”
“Pretty sure, yeah. Nothing new since before I woke up downstairs.”
“Not even in here? All my personal things? Not triggering anything?”
Alaric looks around listlessly, wanting to help Damon somehow, barely registering the furniture and knick-knacks filling the space.
“No.

He fists a hand in Damon’s dark hair, forcing the vampire’s head back for a better angle, and dives in, full stop. It’s not a sweet kiss or a gentle one, but it is gratifying in a way that Alaric can’t begin to describe. Damon lets him do it, doesn’t push him away, but likewise doesn’t respond. That makes Ric angry, frustrated that he’s alone in this heated turmoil. Taking his ire out on Damon, he bites down, hard, on to the vampire’s bottom lip, and doesn’t release it until he hears a broken moan. All at once no holds are barred, strong hands clutch at him, hips press forward propelling him backwards, angling them towards the bed. A light shove is all it takes for Ric to topple onto his back. He catches a glimpse of Damon’s face, the predator at the fore once again; this time Alaric is counting on being caught. With a low growl, the vampire pounces, sucking Ric’s lip between his teeth, pressing Ric’s body into the mattress with his own. Running entirely on instinct now, Ric rears up, rolling Damon onto his back. He savages the vampire’s mouth with his own, earning satisfying groans. Grasping at Damon’s hip, he grinds against him, finding proof that he’s not the only one loosing his mind. Damon’s leg hooks around Ric’s thigh, locking them even more firmly together. “Even you don’t know a thing about my lovers.”
“Pretty sure a know a little bit about some of them…”
Damon blows out a breath, obviously dismissing everything. Alaric yanks his jeans back into place, and sits properly, holding Damon’s eye.
“You’ve never had an actual relationship have you?”
The look on his friends face would be comical, if Ric weren’t so tied up in his current line of thought.
“Hello? Lovelorn vampire here, I’m like the poster boy for failed relationships, so clearly I’ve had them.”
“No, no. That’s not what I mean. Katherine, she used you. You were in love with her, yeah, but she never gave you anything. That’s not a relationship. Not like this is.”
“This? This!? This was a mistake, Ric. This was an itch that got scratched, and should have been ignored. Give it an hour and you’ll be begging me not to tell any one. Don’t worry, it was nothing to write home about.”
Alaric is torn between feeling hurt and laughing at Damon’s obvious efforts to brush off the whole experience.
“Damon, it’s me, man. I’m not judging, I’m just trying to figure out what this is. I’m not saying I regret it and I’m not going to ask you to keep it a secret.”
