Kennedy was elected president in 1960 and served from 1961 to 1963 until his assassination during his presidency. At the time of his presidency, the U.S. was going through challenges and the stakes were high for Kennedy. Kennedy's presidency was focused on civil rights and adjusting to the Soviet Union. Kennedy’s New Frontier program aimed to explore space and see what they were missing in space. In addition, Kennedy helped break barriers like he helped in advancing America's space exploration and technology. By breaking these barriers, for example, he gave Sunita Williams the opportunity to win world records, and Kennedy also stated how this was a goal for him and wanted to make it capable of travel to space.
