questions “even the genius ask questions” (Verse 4). Ultimately, he’s showing that knowledge is the key to overcoming oppression. Tupac further emphasizes ways in which to address politics and power through getting people to realize that power lies in the people. What really stood out to me was the one phrase in verse four, “Be grateful for your blessings”. When I first heard this song I was thinking why would a guy with dreadful circumstances tell us, the audience to be grateful for our blessing. It then hit me, throughout the whole song, tupac describes that he had a hard life. It’s apparent after hearing other songs from the artists. He emphasizes the value in adversity because it makes you stronger. By being grateful, people can remove themselves of the forces of unhappiness so they can find a positive way to face difficulties. Tupac does not just …show more content…
He delivers his lyrics decently, and with good flow but I see him more like a lyricist. His relatively speed of delivery is not that fast. I believe he is delivering his song like this, so that the messages he gives can be easily understood. Their is no noteworthy wordplay. His rhyme scheme is simple. In the song is mostly verse. I say verse because he rhymes most of the the song. His tone of voice in this song is serious. This track “utilizes a distorted guitar sample from Isaac Hayes' Walk on By’ and the beat from Minnie Riperton's ‘Inside My Love,’ ”. As to the he significance of using these samples. I believe he had a reason to use theses samples. After hearing both of these samples, I conclude that he used these tracks in this song because they are both thought provoking. He wanted his audience to really think about the messages he was trying to stress. This song does not include a played interpolation of another song. The instruments that are used in this song are the piano and the

His Accomplishments… Tupac was the first rap artist to have two number 1 albums in a row on the Billboard's top 200 chart. As stated before, many people compare his fame to the Notorious B.I.G.'s fame, but the highest status on the album charts that Biggie ever achieved while alive was #13 on the top 200 albums chart, and #3 on the Rap and RnB charts. Tupac did all this before rap was as popular as it is today, in the dying days of grunge rock.…

When I think of the sentence where Tupac says in his poem “In the Depths of Solitude” “I exists in the depths of solitude / pondering my true goal” (1-2). I see it as him saying he is alone and, having to find what his purpose in life is. When we get time to think to ourselves we see things in a different light that we might not have seen with others around us. Tupac was a very successful rapper he in my opinion probably only got a couple of minutes alone. However like many others that are always surrounded by people they tend to be the loneliest of them all.…

Secondly, another poetic device that Kendrick Lamar uses in his song is irony. Irony is when an event occurs in which is unexpected in the sense that it is somehow in mocking opposition in what would be expected or appropriate. When Kendrick Lamar uses irony, it is in a very serious and thought provoking way. For example, in line 63 the speaker says, “Cause you tried to change your life and now you live in a wheelchair.” This line is ironic because it talks about how someone tried to change their life and instead of it getting better, which is what is expected, it got worse by the person becoming handicapped.…

    Poem By Big Pun

This dark and aggressive song, by Big Pun, promotes the idea of revenge, retribution and ruthlessness. It includes endless lines of pure violence and harsh messages written in breathtaking poetry, that is powerful enough to completely possess an individual’s attention. Big Pun is without a doubt lyrically gifted, but the morals and ethics he is advocating are troublesome for modern society. He describes murder as something he is born to do, essentially spreading the idea that he is good at it and proud. In addition to this, he raps about emotions of remorse being a negative thing, teaching people that “feeling bad” for others is not a desirable attitude.…

    Geto Boys Analysis

Released on July 1, 1991, the single Mind Playing Tricks On Me by the Geto Boys delved into the mental stress of gangsta and drug addict lifestyles, and addressed how one reaffirmed their existence. During this period, the group consisted of Willie D, Scarface, and Bushwick Bill. They acknowledged their issues, such as coping, vulnerability, and reasons for living. Through this song, one is able to deduce that the lyrics and beat complement one another, and the first few verses set the tone of the entire track. Although there was a tendency for intoxication and profanity during the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Geto Boys hit Mind Playing Tricks On Me is a classic hip hop song that inspired generations of rappers in suit, is not one solely about drugs, and vocally illustrated hardships that were not commonly spoken of during that time.…

Tupac Shakur’s song “Changes.” This song delivers a pretty direct message about the need for a change in the world. The title alone gives that away, but the lyrics expose the speaker’s feelings as well as the problem that needs to be changed. Therefore, I think Tupac may have been killed because of his own revolutionary way of…

Black-on black crime, he constantly referred to, pointed out black males who were in the same situation as he was (Stevens 21). When he rapped about the death of his friends he wasn’t afraid to express his true emotions because he knew that those who were in similar situations as him felt the same way and wanted those that hadn’t experienced to really feel the pain that Tupac felt. The songs itself brings a sense of hope to many African-Americans while the music video informs people of the police brutality that has been occurring so often over the last couple years. The use of the quote, “Alls my life I has to fight,” emphasizes the idea that African-Americans have to fight everyday whether it be fighting for equality or even fighting for their lives due to the racism that is targeted at them. The message Kendrick conveys is powerful and therefore that is why it has become an anthem throughout the Black Lives Matter movement.
