For instance, in the beginning of the movie, the protagonist has not been able to sleep for six months (insomnia) and acts on impulsive behavior by purchasing furniture when he cannot sleep. It is also seen that the narrator easily becomes addicted, such as when he starts to attend different support groups in which he faked whatever illness/problem he supposedly had so he could attend the meetings. The character also gets quickly upset and is disturbed by one of the characters (Marla) when she also starts to attend the support group meetings. Although both characters discussed the situation, the narrator has trouble sleeping again, which shows that he is having a hard time with dealing with the stress having insomnia and not being at peace with attending the group sessions. In addition, the narrator always becomes angry or moody whenever he see’s or talks to Marla and in a way there is a sense of feeling threatened by her whenever she is around. Each trait or personality type is composed of some similar qualities of how each character behaves in the movie, such as impulsivity and unusual thoughts or ideas. What is most interesting is how the narrator of the story is also Tyler Durden (the same person), who have an entirely different personality. After observing such characteristics, it is likely that the protagonist of the story has a disorder, most likely being dissociative identity disorder.
