Introduction
There are many different career paths that Kaplan University have to offer, and these don’t fall short when it comes to the healthcare industry. One career path takes precedence in my life goals which is that of a healthcare administrator. For this report I will be giving an overview of my profession, while providing the educational requirements for the degree plan. I will the be discussing the personality trait and skill sets it takes to be a part of this career path. However, I need to start somewhere, and I have chosen to start off with my launch into this career path by trying to receive a bachelors of science in health care administration. An overview of this professional degree plan is defined by Kaplan University as a degree plan that can get you, “prepared for a wide range of entry-level positions in the health care industry. You may also have a strong foundation to pursue entry-level supervisory roles. Career opportunities may include: care coordinator, account manager, billing administrator, service coordinator, and case manager” (Kaplan University, N/D). With this, I will be able to obtain a wide verity of medical information that would greatly help my entry into medical school, to become a physician. I will be able to have a lot more back door information of how a hospital, or a medical facility works, which can greatly enhance how I work as a physician in the future. It is my career goal to become a physician of hematology and oncology. So I need to set goals in order to do so, and Kaplan’s Career Center is a great tool to help me in this task. I will be starting of with receiving my bachelors of science in health care administration, and from there I will be taking the MCAT test prep course that Kaplan University has to offer. While taking that class I will be continuing in my career in HR at the hospital that I work, and try to advance more on the clinical administrative side. I will also use the Career Center that Kaplan has to offer which includes things such as: “career assessment/exploration, occupational direction, career networking tips, and online career fairs” (Kaplan University, N/D).
