Values Of The United In The Declaration Of Independence And The Constitution

Patriotism is the sense of pride and loyalty that one holds towards their country. There is more to being an American than just waving a flag and singing the national anthem; A true patriotic American defends the values of what it means to be an American, stands up for what they know is right and helps make contributions to the country. Being an American holds great responsibility to uphold the values on which the nation was built, it’s also a privilege that many people are unable to experience. Values listed in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are built to form ideas of freedom, equality and justice for all people in the country. during the fight against segregation, Gloria Steinem who fought in the Women's Liberation Movement, Margaret Sanger who fought for reproductive freedom, or even people who fight for their individuality; Americans have a historical right to their individuality and fighting for that, seeing as America was made from different people joining together as one. I don’t believe that being patriotic only means that you have to be an activist or risk your life for your country, but you do have to respect it and do your part to help America succeed. Regular people help with the success of America when they decide to pursue careers such as a teacher, healthcare worker, lawyer, or policeman/firefighter. All of the people that help maintain the United States show patriotism because they are helping to protect America and make it better. No matter how big the contribution is, such as dying in war for the country that you love, or small the contribution is, such as teaching the next generation of Americans about the rich history that we have in this country and teaching them to appreciate it too; True American patrons do their part to help this country
