Weekly Reflective Journal Analysis

Weekly Reflective Journal #6 The week was successful and fast. I felt that my learning segment leant itself to my goal for literacy to be engaging for students. The class was excited to work and participated in discussion and writing down their research. No student argued about writing this past week. I believe it is because they knew the purpose of writing and were actively engaged in the learning. In math the students worked hard with the new activities in the Investigations unit. However, on Friday, one student became so frustrated he slammed his head down on the table. I believe more differentiation should be planned during math. In literacy this week, we have been focusing on researching the importance of President’s Day and two important presidents (George Washington and Abraham Lincoln). On Friday we started discussion on Dr. Seuss. I have been incredibly proud of my students for contributing with this central focus. On Thursday, I had one student amaze me by …show more content…
My learning segment went well. I simply over-planned. But on Thursday, I actually had to use the additional materials for some students who flew through the work. I also enjoyed Friday immensely because I felt like the teacher. The class and I had a great day. Additionally, our assistant had to leave early so the Vice Principal joined me in the classroom. She gave me the support I needed and emailed me on Saturday to tell me that the assistant and I did a wonderful job and thanked us. It makes me feel confident in my abilities when something like that occurs. The goals for next week have shifted in order to maintain student success. In literacy, I will encourage students to find ways to use the language. In math, I will find ways to make connections between new concepts and familiar ones so that students are not frustrated. I will also continue being firm in my expectations as far as behavior goes because it is working and the behavior is getting

The first journal that caught my attention and fit the category of “a personal response to a theme/topic in the novel” was providing a narrative which exemplifies my relationship with my best friend: the fourth journal entry. The reason why I chose this specific journal is because it really tackled the personal experience I once had with my former relationship and how it tied in with knowledge and beliefs. My interpersonal relationship with my former best friend resembled a certain situation that the characters in the book discussed; in both instances, both of us changed our views on seeing the advantages and disadvantages of a problem and seeing what consequences come with each side. Being in a relationship is a gateway to learning new things…

For the week beginning on 28 August 2017 and ending on the 1 September 2017, I used two different types of weekly planners. One was focused more on the classes and total hours of work throughout the day, while the other was more of a checklist of what was done in a day. I liked the way the first planner was less list-like, but it didn’t allow room for more than the core subjects. That left me confused on where to place community meetings, advising, and electives. Also, there was no section for what’s due that week.…

Critical Reflection Journal 1 When I think of the experiences I have encountered here at Providence Place, various mental health conditions come to mind. However, from first hand experience, the most prevalent disorder I have been exposed to, in this short amount of time would be Dementia. My one resident, C.G, who specifically presented with this condition, is an 87-year-old male who was recently registered at Providence Place. It was during our first encounter, when I began to notice the symptoms of his Dementia. For instance, when we began to engage in a game of crib and it was his turn to deal, I glanced over at him…

This Week Journal Stanley This week lecture, presentation was interesting. It is because it one of the things that I have been battling with most of my life. Having a guest speaker walking into the classroom to talk about the same topic titled “Time Management” that I never have answer to all of my life really amaze me. Paying active attention to the presenter really changed my perspective about how I view things, especially when her introduction was a song from “Mission Impossible” movie. That alone was outrageous because of how I was feeling about things that was never impossible for me to attain.…

Reflective Journal - David Taransaud presentation David's Taransaud is a psychotherapeutic counsellor and author who has over 15 years experience working with challenging young people in some of London’s most deprived areas. His presentation was a thought provoking experience that has opened up more questions about myself and my practice than I anticipated. David explained his belief that the most challenging young people, without exception have suffered abuse and shame. He further explained his notion that these children suppress their feelings deep inside to such an extent that they can no longer feel.…

From the moment Mrs. Grier’s preschool room is entered on February 19th the theme is evident. The reading nook is filled with presidential books (some borrowed from the library), the math center is money themed and the walls are adorned with Abraham Lincoln wall cabins. Students file in as normal, moving their pictures from the “home” board to the “school” board, putting away their belongings, and then sitting down for breakfast. When the timer rings and their spaces are cleared they meet at the rug for circle time. A ballot box is brought out-…

I was assigned to work together with Lisa Adamson and Katie Doherty. My group and I were in charge to teach chapter eight sections four and five. Chapter eight section four was about functions, and chapter eight section five is about coordinate system. Surprisingly, our group previously taught a lesson of a fifth grade math class, and our sections tied into teaching up to the middle and high school level. I enjoyed these sections and I will discuss how I felt working as my group and how I individually performed.…

Based on data I collected from coach observations, peer observations, and feedback I decided to focus on OETF indicator 1.B.1: Plans meaningful tasks that require student ownership. Upon determining that indicator and creating a teacher practice goal based on the data I collected, I began to further breakdown my observation feedback and use that as a baseline level. I noticed from my initial feedback that all of my students were not engaging in the task completely. I felt as though I could better support my students as I want them to all feel successful. In order to do that I worked with my coach and reflected on my task and how it could be adapted in the planning stage to be more meaningful.…
