Being the best-selling book of all time, I can understand why it has earned that rank. Out of the many books that have shaped partially who I am, how I think, and how I behave, I think that the Bible deserves to be recognized as the one book that has transformed who I have become. It is challenging to mention that this compilation of books have influenced me the most only because of the diverse views that exist regarding the book. However, the Bible has not only transformed my spiritual life and what I freely choose to believe in, but the moral stands that are encrypted in the verses of the Bible can truly become a guide of life, which I have proved in my life. It has taught me how to live a life of meaning on this world that is so desperately …show more content…
Through their life, have been able to learn from their mistakes as well as their successes. As Romans 15:4 says, “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope” (NKJV). Interestingly enough, most major leaders had been criminals or sinners one way or another. Moses killed an egyptian. Paul, was a murderer as well as a hater of Christians. Abraham was a liar and an adulterer. Yet, each of them experienced the consequences of their lives, and sought to mend their ways to become people who left an impact where and when they lived. From this, I have grown to be a very observative and reflective person trying to seek every way possible to grow as a human …show more content…

He was skilled and he always put his best into everything he did, which is something I have learned to do myself. When tempted by Potiphar’s wife to have an affair, his integrity allowed him to remain strong and reject her. Integrity, another essential characteristic that everyone should have, is the trait that I hold on to the most. I rather know I did things the best I can than taking a shortcut or an unfair advantage to get something and then risk the consequences. When he was imprisoned after a lie, he met two people in need, whom he helped. Then, when one was restored to his position in the palace, and the pharaoh was in need, he remembered Joseph who helped the pharaoh, who then made him second in command of Egypt. Thus, one thing I have learned is that one never knows who one is helping. Yet, by helping everyone I may be helping the person who might later on become a significant person in my life. By helping a prisoner, he ended up being ruler of Egypt. Nevertheless, I admire the fact that once he was successful and his family, including his brothers, were in need, his forgiveness and

"Salvation" by Langston Hughes spoke to me due to the familiarity and the comfortably of the writing. From birth, I grew up as a Christian living inside a pastor's home. This literary piece embodies the power of choices. The author is implying that a human should never be forced to believe, rather they hold the power of choice. All humans must come to the decision to follow Jesus by themselves.…

The leader who developed Athens advanced democracy and more modern government was named Solon. His good leadership stemmed from the appreciation the Athenian people had for him for turning Athens into a more city with more equality and justice, “In 594 Solon was called upon to resolve problems of deep seated social unrest involving the aristocratic monopoly of political power and landholding practices…”(Lape) Solon wanted Athens to be, "The city where those who have not been wronged show themselves just as ready to punish the offender as those who have been” (Plutarch 60).
