But then again DNA is extraordinarily long. If today there were to be a book that was published on an individual 's DNA, the book would approximately be about 1500 copies of Jane Eyre. Who is time to read that? But because of DNAs size, the idea of a perfect replication may introduce some technical errors. This idea is introduced to us as a mutation. Mutations are natural, however if you Tatian were to occur at the wrong place in the DNA the outcome any human being could be drastic. An example would be how Cancer is an expression of a mutated gene that occurred in the wrong place in a DNA …show more content…
We learn the genes aren 't the whole story. But the environment isn 't the whole story either. One 's future from birth is not set in stone, and there is no script preordaining us on whether we succeed or fail in life. Even the strongest of genetic traits can change in an instant, and this is why the nature versus nurture debate still goes on today. There is no control over the DNA there is no control over the way one is raised but we do have control over ourselves, this is the idea of free will. Don 't like the hair color you inherited from your parents? Dye your hair. Don 't like how short you are? Where heels. Want a different eye color? Wear colored contacts.
The idea of free will once again throws off the nature vs nurture study.
Are our lives pre-chosen for us? Are we living as a result of the genetic code scripted into our genes? If genes were completely deciphered and scientists knew everything from the function of each gene to how it effects our wellbeing, then the nature versus nurture debate could be solved.
Relating to something that Meyer (2001) had said, "gathering knowledge and understanding is a good thing, but we need a bit of humility. We are not just a collection of genes." So which influences stronger? Is the environment your biology stronger? Both are very important in today 's world and each happens to play a role in shaping people today. It shapes the future, the past as well as the
