This section draws from chapter 1 “Young Adulthood and Pathways to Eternal Marriage” in Successful Marriages and Families. This section discusses the fact that couples that cohabit before marriage are more likely to divorce if they get married. It also gives some advice on dating and preparing for finding the right person; being ones best self instead of looking for someone who has all the qualities they want. It also discusses the importance of meaningful dating and marriage preparation. Lastly it discusses how marriage preparation has been an issue for young people and that for many people the steps in marriage preparation need to be personally chosen and followed through with. The fifth section discusses the development of a relationship, from first acquaintance to continuation of a relationship that can lead to marriage and to the ending of a relationship. This serves as a preparation section for the tenth section. The ninth section discusses overcoming fear of failure and the necessity of sacrifice and commitment in marriage. This section draws from chapter 8, “Should I Keep Trying to Work it Out? Sacred and Secular Perspective on the Crossroads of Divorce” in Successful Marriages and Families. It mentions the power of the Atonement in a marriage to aid in struggles and help a couple find unity in Christ. The tenth section discusses child raising and gives some basic guidelines for it. It basically talks about raising a child so that they are shown love, respect, given authority when appropriate, but also having strong parents to turn when they need it. The significance of this section is that after discussing relationships and marriage a young adult needs to have some information on raising children, God has commanded us to have children, so I assume that most of the young adults who will get married will eventually have children of their own.
