One day ago, Timmy came out of school running as fast as he can home. He checked the mailbox grabbed and looked at his grades.Later he told his parents that he had a 4.0 GPA when he actually had a 1.9 GPA. I.I firmly believe that lying is acceptable in our society. Lying is justified when it can be used to protect and care for others. For example,”Anne Frank survived as long as she did because those sheltering her and her family lied to the Nazi’s.”[1] If they hadn’t lied for Anne Frank, she would have died earlier. The only reason they lived longer was because of a lie.In addition,” Not only is lying justified, it is sometimes our moral duty to lie”said Cohen. An obvious is when you’re lying to protect someone from serious harm. Lies aren't bad it is really just the way you use them. If you were to lie to protect someone from harm either it’s emotional or physically then it's not bad. In conclusion, the reason is why lying is justified when it can be used to care and to protect others. …show more content…
It is not bad to lie if you protect someone’s feelings. If you are going to tell someone a good lie than it's ok. For example, Smith, 64, lied to his daughter about the kidney stone so she won’t get worried. Lying can make your life easier than others lives if you just tell good lies. This shows that it is ok to lie if it has a good impact to you and the person you told the lie to. In conclusion, I talked about why lying is acceptable when creating positive results than negative

After reading the article "Is Lying for the Greater Good Ethical" By Thomas G. Plante, it is evident that sometimes lying can be for the greater good because it can prevent other people getting their feelings hurt and being hurt physically . First the author states that, "Sometimes lying could be the more appropriate ethnical response to a ethnical conflict." "For example, if a friend of yours were to ask you "How do I look in my new outfit." "One might be compelled to tweak the truth to not offend or hurt the feelings of someone who matters to you". This means that a tiny white lie like this really isn't going to matter in any way shape or form.…

Many people who lie do it to protect another person or to save a person from getting offended (160). Many would argue that no one has the right to decide for someone else whether or not they should be denied the truth because they may get offended. It may be considered evil to leave someone in the dark of something that could be completely life changing because, it they may not take it very well (161). No one would consider being polite to be immoral. If a person cannot stand to be around someone and pretends to be that person’s friend when they are around, that would be considered deceit.…

“You never look good trying to make someone else feel bad,” this quote alone speaks volumes. How can someone just lie on an innocent individual just to protect their wrongdoings and continue on with life without feeling guilty? But at the same time, this game called lying is the “new black”. Many individuals today in society and from the previous eras failed to realize that “if you just tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.” Mainly because when someone has told a lie they must create many lies after that to keep up with their story and it becomes too much and they begin to forget the first lie they even told.…

Is it ok to lie in any situation, or is it just wrong to lie at all ? In four articles that I read, it states a couple of things, for example, they talk about lying and if it's bad, is lying sometimes good, and is lying good. I believe lying is only good sometimes and it should only be used in white lies. I think a good time to lie is when you protect someone. One scenario of this is the story of Ann Frank.this is a good example because they were protecting Ann and her family by saying that there was nothing upstairs.…

Some of the consequences of lying that Ericsson refers to in the beginning of her essay are the destruction of trust and someone else receiving a punishment for your lie. When someone takes advantage of your trust in them that is when trust is destroyed. I once lost all trust in one of my acquaintances in middle school when I entrusted her with the duty of bringing a flash drive that contained our presentation on it the next day. She failed to bring the flash drive and we received a zero on our presentation and because of that, I did not trust her with any of my work from that point on. There have been many instances between my sister and I where we put the blame on the other person, when in fact it was one of our faults, which would result in one of us getting a punishment that we did not deserve.…

Lying… Is it okay to lie and if so, when should I lie? Many people think that it is sometimes okay to lie in certain situations such as protecting someone's feeling or possibly, savings someone's endangered life. Although others may argue that lying is never okay because you may lose your trust with someone close to you, which is completely possible and even though we all may be conflicted on the topic of lying there are positives and negatives to both sides of the spectrum. Cohen believes that “lying is justified,” as stated by the article, “It’s the Truth: Americans Conflicted About Lying.” This can be hard to believe. For example, if you found out that someone you trusted lied to you when you expected truth, most would be offended. Also, most people believe that lying should be avoided and don’t like the idea of lies. However, Cohen expresses that, “‘...every lie has its cost…’”(NBC 2).…

People lie for many reasons in this world, because of the way their brain was trained and the psychological part of it, and depending on the person it could be for the better or worse. Our environment is where we pick everything up from so that contributes to how often a person lies and their reasons. Lies can become very complicated depending on the situation, there are different lies. People also lie because of the good of their heart whether they know if it’s bad or not because sometimes people don’t have a definition of the difference of the two.
