Although Gatsby tried his hardest to fulfill his goal of the American Dream, the goal became sidetracked when lying, cheating, and his tempting love for Daisy came about; therefore, Gatsby tried to fulfill his dream but made the wrong decisions to reach his goal. In Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, Gatsby is the most responsible out of all the characters for his death showing that being too hopeful and confident can prevent a person from reaching the American Dream.
Firstly, Gatsby’s emotional state was largely to blame for his demise. He showed too much hope for his dream to come true therefore exiting reality and unknowingly putting himself in grave danger. Gatsby orchestrated every single one of his parties for Daisy
