Marching Band Officer Essay I am interested in becoming a Drill Tech Captain or Brass Captain for the 2018-2019 Marching Band season. Ever since I started marching with the Mahwah Marching Thunderbirds, I have found myself amazed and interested in the culmination of expression through music and movement. Never before have I participated in an activity with such structure, passion, pride, and strong relationships between members. As a freshman, I was inspired by professional leaders of the band and how they were not only dignified while on the field, but enthusiastic and welcoming as well. I would love to be a leader in Marching Band so that I may positively contribute to the transference of the marching band drill and music from paper…
For the last two years, I have contributed to my Advanced Women’s Show Choir’s success as a performer and as a dance captain. My talent as a dancer and my ability to quickly learn choreography led to my selection as dance captain. This leadership role requires me to be a responsible person, a patient teacher and a supportive team member. Being a part of a nationally top-ranked show choir, I know the requirements of my role, and I was always thrilled to be selected as a dance captain during my junior and senior years. As dance captain, I schedule and lead dance sectionals, helping the girls review the choreography from previous rehearsals.…
My heart is beating quickly, my mouth is dry, and as I look at the familiar faces in front of me, their judging eyes make them seem like strangers. I struggle to get them to quiet down and we begin our hour long sectional, which I have to lead. It was the first day of my third year in marching band and at the end of last year, with the graduation of the previous section leader, I was granted his important position. Being a competitive person, I was extremely self conscience of how my section made me look. I hated being blamed for their errors and was exceedingly harsh towards them during sectionals.…
Interview Question I can contribute my time, hard working attitude, and knowledge of music as a leader in this program. I have spent countless hours for band from practicing, to teaching others, and also several other things. I spend most of my time doing something band related, but I would be glad to more to benefit the band. I can use my hard working attitude to do whatever is needed of me. I can use my knowledge of music to teach others how to be better musicians and show improvement.…
There is no hesitation that I feel like I can handle any situation that is thrown at me. I have had situations from as small as handling a hacker to keeping stable under a DDOS attack. I'm not the type to be nervous under pressure, if I know something has to be don’t I get it done without hesitation. Over the years I have seen other moderators do their job and act as players break the rules, and I was always carefully observing everything I see Then came an opportunity where I could really show my potential, and that’s where “RedCreepercraft" helped me through that insecurity that I was feeling about not being a good moderator.…
I have decided to seek a position on the Superintendent's Student Advisory council for a multitude of reasons. Starting off I feel I am capable of the responsibilities that will be bestowed upon me. I think this because of my previous and current leadership experience, for instance being band secretary and choir treasurer and a student council representative. I am a dedicated student at Ross Middle School, and I would like to establish a bright future for our students. I would look forward to contributing ideas to the Superintendent, and peers.…
Discuss your interest in the EdD program and how you believe it will help you to reach your short- and long-term professional goals. Following the completion of my Master’s in Organizational Leadership, and through my experiential learning, and leadership training, I came to realize the value leadership plays in our everyday life; in school, as a parent, as managers of people. Leadership done right can guide all of us to improve our situation or a condition by employing leadership concepts. As a result, I have short-, mid-, and long-term goals. My short-term goal is to begin teaching at the undergraduate level.…
For as long as I can remember, my life has been centered around organized activities. I was a Girl Scout, I played club soccer, and I am a ski racer. These activities have taught me many things about adaptability, effective collaboration, and accountability. These teachings will contribute to both the Team Community and the community at large in many ways.…
I have had many significant leadership roles in my high school career. My senior year of varsity soccer I was elected team captain after displaying my leadership skills vocally and physically on defense. A proficient defensive lineup was an absolute necessity in the overall performance of the team and it was very important that I kept it functioning correctly. It was also important that the team could work together on and off the field so I often communicated with all the players to figure out any kinks or flaws that would lead to a disruption between my teammates.…
I feel like I would be a suitable captain because of my love for cheer. I have lots of ideas and new material I would like to share with the team. I would like to take this opportunity to enhance my leadership abilities that will prepare me for my future in college and life. Being captain would allow me a chance to be relied on in a leadership and learn to manage to be under pressure. I feel as I have had a chance to experience football season while not being a captain and I have learned and studied ways to approach things differently and how being treated equally is important, while having a leadership role.…
When I was four-year-olds, I was placed into dance classes at the Dance Unlimited Studio in Paradis, Louisiana. I meet most of my phenomenal friends in dance class; especially my great friend Maddie. Maddie was two grades above me, so when I was an eighth-grader, she was a sophomore at my current high school. One day during dance class, she hurled her whole body upon me for a hug and squealed in excitement. "Guess what!?…

According to Harold S. Geneen, a famous American business associate, “leadership is not so much practiced in words as in attitude and action.” In past leadership essays I have brought definition upon the title of leader, but through my two years of experience I can finally acknowledge that leadership holds no true definition. Leadership is a conceptual and specific idea to every individual. The personal concept I hold as the epitome of leadership includes the ability of self-assessment, humility, determination, and communication.…

I have full belief in myself that I would be able to become a successful captain at St Peters Lutheran College and help my peers make 2016 the most memorable of their schooling years. Leadership Philosophy Qualities that I believe that are needed that which stated on the application form are: ➢ The want to make a difference; ➢ Be authentic and original; ➢ Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and Learning the value of servant leadership. It’s all good and well to say you want to make a difference but when push comes to shove not many people can’t say they did what needed to be done.…
My perspective of what it means to be a man and leader has changed significantly over these past few years. Every aspect that I associated with being leader either came from books that I have read, coaches, teachers, or my family. Most of these people practiced a management style than actually leadership, a quid pro quo approach. In fact that is why I leaned towards coming to the United States Naval Academy. I have read many military stories of great leaders, John Basilone and Jack Lummus to name a few that had the ability to inspire and encourage men to follow them into great success no matter the odds.…
