Why Is China Better Than American Schools

Decent Essays
I am thankful that I go to school in America because in many countries like China, are very demanding compared to American schools for many reasons. The hours are longer compared to American schools. Chinese students go to school from 7:30-5:30 if they finish all the tasks and work they have done, and it doesn't even include homework. In my opinion, China values school more for many reasons, but the main reason is that there aren't public high schools in China, so only certain students can get in if they can afford it. If they can afford it, the student still has to pass a test to get into high school. If they fail their fate is determined, and they either start looking for a job or are homeschooled. There is also a four-hour long test when

Either if they fail or get a low grade, the student 's confidence in themselves would drop to the point where they do not think they will be able to pass any major test like the STAAR Test. The reason that a test like the STAAR can destroy a student 's confidence, is because this test determines if you move on not only in school, but on to the next chapter of life after school. If a student fails a STAAR Test, they can be held back in a class and possibly not even graduate on time. Also, a lot of students that fail a major test like the STAAR drop out of school because they feel embarrassed that they failed the test. I also know this from personal experience.…

There is but one china, and Taiwan is a part of China.” This statement, otherwise known as the One China Policy is absolutely correct. Today, China is a country divided into two separate governments; Taiwan which is governed by the Republic of China, and the mainland which is governed by The Peoples Republic of China (cfr.org, Michal Roberge and Youkyoung Lee). Here lies the problem; each government claims that they are the true China! To fully understand this highly controversial dilemma, one must understand the complicated history behind this problem.…

American Education System America’s education system developed over the long harvest months in the South during the West migration. Usually a child would attend up until the 7th grade then later have to drop out in order to maintain the surplus cash crops found in their family’s farm. The American education system developed over the decades and eventually became a right for all children to have an education, then later evolving into a requirement in order to get somewhere or be someone in the world. I feel that being an American is the privilege to gain knowledge, to know more about this world. To read, write, and to learn about this world and its history; this is truly a privilege of being an American.…

Why do people believe that Asians tend to have big brains and do well in school? A psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, Dr. Thomas Miklusak, once said, “The pressure for Asian students to do well in school and college admission tests could lead to a lot of shame and guilt.” Asian parents tend to be obsessed with their child’s grades and test scores — this is hard on average Asians like me who don’t always get straight A’s. In my parent’s perspective, they came from poor immigrant families and believe the only way to be successful is to achieve high grades.…

School schedules have been changing lately in the US. Some schools are switching over to a year-round schedule. Year-round school does not help students to be more successful because they do not retain knowledge better, test scores are in the same range as standard nine month schools, personal activities and sports are harder to make time for, and year-round schooling is not beneficial for all schools. Schools in Asia have a very strict year-round, long school hours schedule. “The only research to support this (year-round schooling) is from schools with a big population consistency schools.”…
