When a fossil fuel refinery comes down to pump some oil or dig some coal they clear out land and destroy the habitat around them. As in ' 'Fossil Fuels Pose Double Threat to Wildlife" there are two types of threats direct and indirect. The direct causes are the ones that you can visibly see like the noise pollution, the clearing out of land, destroying animal habitats, and polluting of our atmosphere. The indirect causes though are even more deadly and last even longer like soil pollution or water pollution which you can 't measure at the time and also the introduction of invasive species which since they have no natural predators can go in and destroy the natural wildlife. Nuclear is very compact so you don 't need to strip mine for the ores we use demilitarized uranium from old USSR warheads which is less damaging to the surrounding environment. Uranium which is the ore we use for nuclear power is also an abundant resource that we don 't have to tear up land and break up habitats and since nuclear is clean no pollution and no killing animals or destroying their …show more content…
Solar is a good resource but without the space to build fields of solar panels and in a place with lots of sun there pretty useless. Strong winds do not blow everywhere either so that leaves out turbines. Geothermal is a good resource but without an available hot spring or geyser you can’t have it and also to build on you would have to clear out land using fossil fuels. Nuclear is compact and can be virtually anywhere. There is also biomass energy which is energy from trees and is readily available and produces high energy content, but on the other hand you have burn the trees that destroys the environment and even if you plant more which will help with reforestation it will not take out all the carbon you are putting the atmosphere, and biomass is expensive to. This is unlike nuclear which is getting cheaper and cheaper and is producing more emissions. That is why nuclear should be the next big energy source for the future it is very reliable. The only bad thing about nuclear is that it can turn into a disaster when not maintained right, nuclear meltdowns have occurred a few times in the history but one really sticks out on peoples mind Chernobyl. This nuclear meltdown caused the single worst eco destruction in history. This was due to the explosions in one of the chambers in the reactor. Since this disaster many cautionary steps were taken afterwards to make sure this never happened
