The coercive micropolitical behaviour is the illegitimate use of formal authority at a workplace: personal attack (isolation, intimidation, humiliation); erosion of professional competence and reputation ( limiting career); and, attack through work roles and tasks (obstruction to work, denial of natural justice, economic sanctions) (Hutchinson, Vickers, Wilkes & Jackson, 2010,p. 15-16).
Implications of Bullying for Nursing Care
The bullying threatens the caring and supporting environment essential for the patient care subjecting them to a health risk (Chapovalov & Van Hulle, 2015). The several research studies link bullying to impacting adversely on patient outcomes, occupational stress levels and high nurse-turnover rate (Mosadeghrad, 2013, p. 169-176)
