You may be surprised to know there are two kinds of Beagles. Some are shorter than 13 inches and others are between 13 inches and 15 inches. Nonetheless, both are exceptionally solid, chiseled dogs. They are also colorful.

Choose from red and white, lemon or multicolored. The Beagle is absolutely adorable and wants to be everybody's friend. Most people are suckers for their round hazel eyes or big brown eyes. To top it off, they have long floppy ears.

Temperament

They have keen senses. This breed is genetically inclined to hunt and to track scents. It's what he does best and he's happy doing it. If you're looking for a guard dog or a pet to sit on the front porch with, he's not the one you're looking for.

They are mainly loving, happy go lucky canines. Because of this, they make awesome additions to the family. What makes the Beagle the favorite choice for millions of households? Likely, it's their curiosity and their high energy. They never get tired of playing games with the family.

Nutrition
Provide the Beagle with nothing but the best foods, whether you make it yourself or buy the best brands. He should eat according to his stage in life, whether he's a pup, full grown or aging.

This breed may have a tendency to literally lick his bowl clean and pack on the pounds. While giving this dog treats may entice him to be obedient, too many will only add to the total calorie count. Also give him clean water and check with his vet if your concerned about weight control.

Grooming
