Zerbaxa Synthesis Case Study

Decent Essays
Zerbaxa should be added to the ACPHS forulary and Zosyn should remain on the formulary. Both drugs are used to treat bacterial infections in several parts of the body. While the current formulary drug Zosyn has many more uses than the formulary candidate Zerbaxa, the latter still has some uses that are not covered by Zosyn such as pyelonephritis.2 Zerbaxa is available in fewer dosage forms but this should not be an issue since is normally only dosed 1.5 g at a time.4 The current drug Zosyn has many more warning criteria than Zerbaxa which means there is more monitoring involved with Zosyn. Zosyn also has many more adverse effects than Zerbaxa and many of these effects are much more severe than those associated with Zerbaxa treatment.3

Discussion: Spinacia oleracea like many other plants contains leaves which play a crucial role in the process of photosynthesis. The energy used to drive the chemical reactions within photosynthesis comes from the sunlight absorbed by the chlorophyll molecules (Merzlyak, Chivkunova, Zhigalova, & Naqvi 2009). These chlorophyll molecules then transfer the light energy to chloroplasts and that light energy is converted into chemical energy (Merzlyak, Chivkunova, Zhigalova, & Naqvi 2009).…

Crucible synthesis essay During times when fear and stress are present in our lives or we are don’t want to suffer the consequences of a situation we tend to use scapegoating as a method to get out of or avoid the situation. As humans, we seem to always be subconsciously looking for things to scapegoat weather it is for our benefit, their own problems and/or society’s problems as seen in the crucible during the Salem Witch Trials. During the time of the Salem witch trials a scapegoat was used as “a person which takes on the sins of others, or is unfairly blamed for problems”. Although the vast majority of us humans are guilty of scapegoating at some point in our lives and choose to scapegoat the people around us who are different from us,…

Abstract: The objective of this experiment was to synthesize aspirin from salicylic acid and acetic anhydride. The general theory behind this experiment was to study the synthesis of a drug from organic materials. During the experiment, esterification had occurred between reactants salicylic acid and acetic anhydride. Then, phosphoric acid would catalyze the reaction and water would be added to decompose the remaining acetic anhydride. Through the process of filtration, aspirin crystals were collected and separate from the liquid acetic acid-water solution.…

Acetaminophen, a popular active ingredient in many over-the-counter drugs, is used as a pain reliever and a fever reducer. It is synthesized from the reaction between a carboxylic acid and an amine; thus, acetaminophen contains hydroxyl and amide functional groups.1 C6H7NO + C4H6O3 C8H9NO2 + C2H4O2 This reaction is commonly known as a condensation reaction.…
