What is pre-load
Volume of blood in ventricles before they contract (higher blood volume = more energy needed to contract)
What is After-load
The force required from the heart to pump blood around the body (ie resistance from arteries/arterioles)
Examples of vasodilators
Calcium channel blockers (CCBs)
Nitrates
Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors)
Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs)
