The main study tab has two sections: The Study Controls area on the left and the flashcard view area on the right. Study Controls are links you can click to control the flashcard view area to display different flashcards, mark flashcards as incorrect, etc. Additionally each study control has a “Quick Key”. Clicking the quick key on your keyboard is the same as using your mouse to click the link for a given study control. Learn more about quick keys
The main Study Control you will use is the "Continue link" (quick key: c). Using this control will allow you to sequentially flip through the flashcards you have chosen to study. As you go through the flashcards you will occasionally not know the answer to a question. When this happens you should use the “Mark Incorrect” study control (quick key: i). Be honest! When you have completed your set of flashcards you will be able to continue by studying just those flashcards you have marked as incorrect.
That should be enough to get you started. As you study return to this help area to learn more about the Flashcard Exchange study tool.
Quick keys are a way of quickly navigating through the flashcards you are studying. When viewing the study tab pressing the following keys will perform the specified action:

When you remove a card you are removing it from the current study set—the card still exists in the system, you simply will no longer be studying it and it will not be included in the study session summary. There are a number of ways you can remove a flashcard from the set of cards you are studying:
Changing the refresh interval will speed up or slow down the slide show. This can be done from the options tab. Click the Save options button to make this change permanent. You must be logged in to save your options.
You can change the font and font size on the Options tab.
When on the study tab click “Study Other Side First”.
Most flashcards in our system do not contain pictures. If you are specifically looking for picture flashcards you will need to search around the directory to find them. If you just want to see an example check out the official demo card set.
Yes. From my flashcards select the card sets you want to include in the random selection and choose 25, 50, or 100 from the dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen. To study a random selection from all your card sets simply do not check the box next to any of the card sets.
Yes! This can be done in a number of ways.
The first technique is the use an external desktop flashcard study tool. See exporting
The second technique is to use the pdf study document. By creating a pdf document with one flashcard per page you can study by flipping through the flashcards using the built-in navigation tools of the Adobe Reader: simply use the left and right arrows to move between cards. With pdf study documents you can also use the Adobe Reader “Read Out Loud” feature to have your flashcards read to you. Learn more.
The third technique is to simply save the study page to a file. The study page will look a little different when you view it after it has been saved to your computer. Some of the images will not appear correctly, and the card list and results tab will no longer function. Basic study will work as normal for text-only flashcards.
Internet Explorer Instructions:
From the File menu select “Save As…”. You might get a message reading “The web page may not save correctly. Would you like to save it anyway?”. Click yes.

You will next see a file explorer dialog window:

Firefox Instructions:
This can be done with the Adobe Reader. First you need to create a PDF study document. Open your pdf study document and from the view menu open the “Read Out Loud” fly out menu and select one of the options. Your computer will begin to read the text to you.

A card file is a group of cards that is studied using more advanced study techniques. Read more about it on our card file page Card files are only available to full members
When you are finished studying from a card file you must click the _Process Results_ button on the Results tab. This will update the system with your study results, promoting or demoting cards appropriately.
Only cards that have been marked correct or incorrect are actually processed when you click the Process Results button. Cards that have not been viewed will not be processed and will stay in their original compartment.
A card is marked correct when it is viewed. Unviewed cards are neither correct nor incorrect. A card is only marked incorrect when you explicitly do so.
Yes!
That is it. You will then be able to study a partial compartment and when you process the results only the cards selected will be included.
No, not at this time.
