Hydroponic Food Production Introduction Since ancient times human beings have learned to work the earth in order to survive. With the pass of time humans have developed different ways to improve productivity when cultivating plants. This is particularly important with the increase in human population, lost farm lands and climate changes. (Arteca) Currently there are a couple of different methods to cultivate plants. Even thou Although all of them have the same objective of generating some kind of product from the plant, not all the process being used to grow plants necessary have a good yield few of the processes being used fail to have a good yield. This is where hydroponics is taking its place. Hydroponics cultivation is a method of growing plants without soil. Lots of people when they first hear of hydroponic cultivation raise the question, how does it work? Objective It is on this project that I will be describing how hydroponics works, what are the characteristics of it, what are some of the advantages and disadvantages of it, but most importantly, what benefits it has for agricultural production. Pros and Cons of hydroponics Due to the nature on how hydroponic cultivation works, it prevents erosion of the soils. This is because plants that are being grown with hydroponics don 't touch the soil at all, and a All the nutrients provided to the plants its controlled. aAnother positive outcome of the hydroponics is that this process also reduces the…

In this project I will try to find out if the plants will grow better normally or in the aerogarden. I will see how the aerogarden affects the plant growth. I will plant strawberries in both of the systems and see which plants grow faster. I will record the growth every single week. Then I will put it on my project. The aero garden is completely mess free because it uses aeroponics. Aeroponics requires no soil or fertilizer. This is related to my project because of how easy it is for everyone…

The human population has grown at a steady incline and the continued destruction of natural areas and habitat to make room, has caused scientist has come up with a way to produce food faster while using less space. Vertical farming is the practice of growing organic food in vertically stacked layers using artificial light and without soil. Vertical farms are buildings with controlled environmental conditions that allow crops to be grown all year round by using hydroponics, aeroponics, and…

By 2050, it is expected that this ratio will change to 80:20, therefore the need for food will increase. Dickson Despommier said a great statement that “the world would be a much better place if we had vertical farming”. Vertical farming is a process of growing crops in a building that is many stories high, using LED lighting, Cloth Medium, and Aeroponics. Essentially, the plants are created “using mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil” 3 , and LED lights that provide the plants the…

further ethical issues. Most of the population on Gnaritus objected vociferously to terraforming and defeated the measure in a vote. Their prevailing viewpoint is that any alien life has the right to evolve to its full potential in its natural ecosystem without human interference.” “Then, how are fruits and vegetables produced?” Alfonso asked eagerly. “Is there any animal farming?” “All agriculture occurs in greenhouses that provide a contained environment for plant growth,” Pars answered.…

birthrate, but this system will eventually result in depopulation. As a result, there will be very few younger individuals in the workforce, and a huge elderly population with no one to care for them. I watched a vice video about five years ago about this very situation. Getting married and having a family is no longer the norm in Japan. Instead the younger generation, especially the female population, spends a majority of their time working and by the time they want kids, they are well past the…

Google defines hydroponics as “the process of growing plants in sand, gravel, or liquid, with added nutrients but without soil”. There are branches of this type of growing without soil that relate to hydroponics such as aquaponics, fogponics, and aeroponics. Hydroponic systems are created to allow the crop to grow; the most common systems essentially suspend the root of the crop in water sans a growing medium. There are of course more advanced growing systems, and various designs to fit the…
