It plants the seeds of knowledge, and knowledge erases fear.” Kaufmann’s stance on the subject was clear- though he had not previously anticipated this fate, he was happy with it, and ready to pull back the leaves blocking the path and venture down the mossy routes that life had given him, and point every type of tree he passed on the way. However, even as he embarked on this journey there would be issues, problems that began quickly and some that he has still yet to conquer, and maybe never will- that’s just how life goes. “Time is the biggest issue.” Again, Mr. Kaufmann’s ideals closely align with those of the sorrowful Enya song- time is always the problem. Time to prepare, time to go through things, time to do things, and time to develop it all. Often, he says, time was an issue due to poor management by administrators within the school, although this has ceased to be an issue in recent years, he explained. He feels that education is still constantly under attack, though, frequently being used as a “Scapegoat by people with hidden agendas,” as he described it. “It’s hard to always do the right thing under this,” Kaufmann continued, citing another challenge he has faced in his many years as an educator. And yet, despite these things, he was still able to conquer adversity, due to his unique and mystical approach to not only teaching, but life as well.…
