    General Patton is one of the best known generals in American History. He is one of the best combat generals in the history of the United States of America He once said, “The test of success is not what you do when you’re on top. Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom.” (Scanlon) He defined success on how hard a person could bounce back when they are hit to the ground.” George Smith Patton Jr. was born in San Gabriel, California on November 11, 1885 and got his education at Virginia Military Institute in 1904 and then graduated from U.S. Military Academy at West Point on June 11, 1909. ( "George Patton Biography.") He always knew he wanted to become a war hero. He grew up hearing the victories his ancestors’ have had in The Revolutionary and The Civil War. The Patton Family came to the new world in 1770 in Virginia, named Robert Patton he married the daughter of Hugh Mercer who fought in the revolutionary war against the British. His grandfather George Smith Patton the first was a solider in the civil war on the side of the confederate. He was named after him, so that his grandfather’s name would live on and to keep the fighting style/ lifestyle through the family.…
