ever so slightly down at the moment taking place in the image. We only see a small portion of the wooden construct. We see its edge and railing, which run diagonally from the bottom right corner of the painting to just above the center of the paintings left border. On the construct is a distraught, frail, figure. It has both of its hands on its head as it screams, eyes opened wide. This figure stands right by the railing of the construct, and is the center piece of the work. Further down the construct, two ominous black figures lurk. They stand near the left border of the painting, where the border meets the railing. A horizontal horizon line stretches across the painting, starting from the point where the ominous figures stand. On this horizon line, some body of land sits, surrounded by water. A dark body of water fills the negative space below the horizon line, and a red-orange sky swirls above. Texture: Any texture implied by the way the work is painted, is illusionary. With that being said, I imagine the the work would have some type of physical texture from the way the paint dried. This work is an oil painting. The different paints seem as if they swirl within each other, especially in the water and sky. Pattern: Pattern is more clear through the way the work was painted, as opposed to obvious repetitive patterns. The work loosely reminds me of Vincent Van Gogh's works. The style is similar to his Starry Night, where each brush stroke is clear, and the different colors…

Each form of linear perspective is named for the number of vanishing points used in the drawing.…

Daughter to the Sky A non-fiction essay as lived by Cinnamon Spear I was born a daughter to the sky. Vast expanses overhead have become my breath. My family and I would sit amongst prairie hills studded with pine trees, consuming countless sunsets. You could see for miles and miles. The sky would flow from a crisp blue to a subtler shade of purple. Passionate pinks and oranges would come just out of that finally resting upon a vibrant yellow source. I caught myself thinking once, “This…

2003, but this poster uses a graphic that feels more recent than that, so it is possibly a newer version of whatever was released at the start. I do find it telling that this campaign started shortly after 9/11 – while the ad itself references a natural disaster, I wonder if this was intended as a subtle way to prepare people for possible terror attacks as well. The illustration itself is quite simple. It’s a photo of a town somewhere in America – it could be any town, any neighborhood. This…

earth and moon did not change, the size of the moon appeared larger in the horizon but smaller at zenith. The debate of explanation behind this illusion had never stopped. Starting from as early as 330 B.C, Aristotle had discussed the moon illusion and explained it as effect of atmospheric phenomenon occurred close to the horizon (J. T. Enright, 1975). Later advocate of this reasoning stated…

There are two major principles of design that are throughout the work, perspective and hierarchy. The entire painting is an aerial view of the landscape below Mount Holyoke. It starts up front showing some of the area of Mount Holyoke like the tree the hidden artist and the foliage on it, but then it transitions to below Mount Holyoke to the valley, river, hills, and mountains below. It even shows the smaller details of the tamed land below. It goes far off into the distance showing the horizon…

“The free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till the current ends and dips his wings in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky.” If I was to leave Oklahoma, there is one thing I am sure I will always miss: the vibrant sunset of a warm summer day by the lake. When I see the birds fly right over the horizon line, diving into the glimpse of beauty, in a moment that I’m always too slow to catch on camera, I stop and think. Think about every opportunity I have received.…
