Levi’s Strauss & Co. was founded in 1853 by Levi Strauss, when he arrived in San Francisco. Levi Strauss later partnered with Jacob Davis and together received a patent on the process of riveting pants by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on May 20. The two began making copper-riveted “waist overalls” in San Francisco and in 1873, the Blue Jean was born. Levi Strauss was born in Germany on February 26, 1829 and passed away on September 26, 1902 in San Francisco, living a legendary 73-years life.
