    as I am making decisions for these families each day and maintaining the trust of the parents. Whenever I am making a decision I find that I analyze, and most times over analyze, the entire situation. I weigh out the pros and the cons and the actions and consequences of each event before deciding which route to take. Most of the people around me call this being indecisive, but I consider it great judgement. I feel very strongly that the best judgement is created by attempts and failures. You learn from your mistakes, and if you’re smart you will not make them again. According to Harvard’s business review’s Noel Tichy and Warren Bennis, making good judgment calls is the most important role in being a leader. “The most effective leaders make a high percentage of successful judgment calls, at the times when it counts the most.” (Tichy and Bennis). Tichy and Bennis condensed good judgement into three steps: preparation, the moment of decision, and making it happen “while learning and adjusting along the way”. I feel that bad decision makers could follow these steps to develop and improve their judgment. Overall, I feel that the first step to improving my mental gifts is, quite obviously, to realize them. Without the VIA survey of strengths, I think I would’ve had a hard time doing this. I do feel that the results of that questionnaire are accurate. The qualities that I scored high in; being memory, attention, and judgement, are the qualities that personally feel I excel in.…
