In this selection, the interviewee from the mock interview #1, volunteered to this mock interview. When looking at the criteria for anxiety, counsels need to use the body of the interview. Starcevic and Portman (2013), talked about how counselors should not mix of the generalized anxiety disorder with being just generally worried as they examine the changes in the DSV5 criteria. Looking atthe APA (2013), the DSM5 has a list of diagnosis for anxiety disorders,…
Introduction The recorded interview was a tough assignment in my opinion, harder than what I thought it would have been. Being as to how I work in a clinical setting, interviewing patients I thought would have come naturally, however that was not the case. Although patients and peers have complimented me on my assessment skills, in this recorded interview I do not feel as though any of the skills I used came naturally. This could be due to the fact that I knew I was being recorded, or the mere fact that I interviewed a family member.…

Career Interview Analysis: Former TRiO Educational Talent Search Student Background The student I interviewed is a current second-year student at West Los Angeles College, studying computer science and engineering. Previously, he attended Susan Miller Dorsey High School and was a participant of the West Los Angeles College TRiO Educational Talent Search (ETS) program, which assists low-income/first-generation students with college and financial aid. Because serving low-income/first-generation students in outreach programs is what I currently want to do, I thought that Luis would be a good person to interview, since he was a product of the ETS program and is no longer in high school.…

Today at Simulation Lab I performed health history on a patient. Firstly, I commenced by preparing myself for the interview. Although I was nervous, as a nurse I had to be confident and prepare myself mentally and kept an open mind to meet the patient. In addition to preparing myself, I prepared the environment, making sure seating and arrangement was in place and the room was comfortable and private. Having done this, I utilized Florence Nightingale’s theory of environmental need.…

Self Assessment Analysis: Listening One major communication flaw of mine is my inability to listen to others at times. The idiom, “you have one mouth and two ears, so you should listen twice as much as you talk,” makes sense. However, it has been hard to implement this idea in my life. I have noticed in conversations that I sometimes “check out” and start thinking about other things, completely ignoring the person talking.…
Final Exam: Self Evaluation Essay I personally can say that I have seen an improvement in my writing since my initial evaluation in the middle of the semester. During my first evaluation I was very confused with many of the general concepts the class held and it reflected in my writing. Answering the questions presented in the midterm evaluation and reviewing my first writing assignment Meta commentary pushed me to try to grasp a better understanding of assignments and ask for more helpful feedback that would benefit me in developing writing especially in the concept of methods and organization. Slowly and surely as the rest of the semester progressed forward I saw an improvement in my writing style and content.…

Although I had heard about career assessments, I never had the opportunity to take one myself. Therefore, I took great joy in experiencing these activities for the first time. Different career assessments such as the MYERS BRIGGS, True Colors, Values Game, Eureka as well as Strength Quest revealed unique qualities that I often times overlook in my persona. These different assessments contributed to a deeper understanding of my skills and personality. In what follows, I discuss my reactions to the different career assessments that were presented during our class.…
Self Assessment is a technique that is used to look at ourselves and to find out different aspects of our actions that make a difference in our everyday lives. After completing 9 different aspects I was able to see different parts of my personality and how they affect the way I work and what changes can be made to make me a better person in the workplace. Overall many of the results that I received I was aware of, but with what I have learned in the course I can use these skills to improve my professional self. The first assessment that I completed was the The IPIP-NEO (International Personality Item Pool Representation of the NEW PI-R).…
An individual who succeeds at interviews does not rely on answer memorization, but rather succeeds through his or her ability to think promptly, demonstrate confidence, and exhibit their abilities. An individual acquires these skills from continuous practice, such as mock interview role-play. Overall, I found this role-play to rest abundantly beneficial through its ability to present constructive…
The interview speech experience definitely taught me a lot more than I had expected. The interview portion of this project was just as much of a learning experience as the speech. I gained I better understanding of the verbal and non-verbal skills I mastered, changes I would make, and the experiences of other people. Verbal skills are something that I feel I have not completely mastered yet. However, there are some I noticed a great improvement in since the first speech.…
