When research is conducted psychologists commonly employ scientific methods, this would involve a set of procedures used to gather results. Each scientific method will differ but they will usually always involve a sample, a population, and a random type of selection. The research process can be unfolded in four stages. Stage one involves selecting a topic and searching the literature and then you go to stage two which is developing the theory and formulating hypotheses. Stage three you will select a scientific method that suits what you require and then submit the study for ethical evaluation. Stage four involves collecting and analyzing data and then reporting the results. All of these points are both valuable to us and to psychology because they help us better understand what goes on with research and how it works, and they leave a basis for other researchers and psychologists to improve …show more content…
Social interaction is something that each and every individual usually has every day. Because each and every individual will have a different lifestyle and different experiences this means that everyone will have varying social developments. This process will begin the moment a baby is born and then forms his first attachment. As the baby grows older he will take in more and more information and create more attachments. This can be shown with an example such as separation anxiety, a state of distress when the primary caregiver is away, or stranger anxiety, which is the fear of strangers. It is important to continue realizing though that each and every person will behave similarly and different and different points in their life and there social development. This explains how people can act wildly different even with the same social and genetic situations and aspects. Another main point is cognitive development. Cognition is the activity of knowing and the processes through which knowledge is acquired and problems are solved. (pg 113) There are stages within this that are called the sensorimotor stage, the preoperational stage, the concrete operational stage, and the formal operational stage. These each begin at varying lifespans but they are fully matured as an individual grows older in
