During fetal flexion the baby should show bending of a limb or joint within 30 minutes and 2 points will be given. If the baby does not meet the criteria, no points will be given.
During fetal breathing the baby should display at least one episode of rhythmic breathing for 30 seconds or more within 30 minutes, then 2 points are given. If the breathing criteria isn’t met, then no points will be given.
The amniotic fluid, fluid that surrounds the baby, should be at least 2 cm in one or more adequate pockets around the baby. If there is adequate fluid around the baby, 2 points will be given, if not then no points will be given. Along with these test the patient should be keeping a log of their blood sugars to be reviewed by the physician.
