This stage continued from 1938 onwards, although historians debate that the painting“Interior with girl drawing” that was painted in 1935 may have been the true rebirth of his previously short lived war phase. During this time Picasso painted people and subjects that resemble and even anticipate the terrors of war and showed the pain and conflicts in his own mind. Picasso spent the later years of his life teaching and inspiring new artists who strived to test history’s boundaries. Today Cubism lives on, and his ability to use color in symbolic, expressive ways has set the artistic bar high for all.
