Shakespeare’s interesting interpretation of the world as a stage still remains true today. Many people come and go from life and some have major roles while others have minor roles.
Although Shakespeare’s phrase is simply a metaphor, in the Sight and Sound Theatres in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, their world is a stage. Sight and Sound Theaters aim to produce theatrical representations of Biblical scriptures with the intention of strengthening a relationship with God. The theatres provide an entertaining and memorable experience through its excellent representations of Biblical stories.

The audience is essentially taken into a time machine where they are in cities like Jerusalem or Nazareth. The excellent work of the stage crew and lighting crew makes the scenery believable and the actors make the stories come to life. Actors are given the opportunity to share the story and the good news that comes from their faith in spectacular performances. The subject of theatre has taken a back seat in schools to more scholarly fields such as mathematics, engineering, biology, physics, and other technical fields. Unfortunately, fewer and fewer students are learning how to appreciate the art of theatre and instead focus their time on cell phones and other electronics. Ironically, mathematics, engineering, biology, and physics play a major role in the production of the extravagant performances at Sight and Sound. Much like the ballpark discussed in Michael Kimmelman’s “A Ballpark Louder Than Its Fans” article, the Sight and Sound Theatres contain so much more than a simple play (Kimmelman 979-985). The theatrical experience of being an audience member at Sight and Sound is like a Disney wildlife tour combined with a Broadway performance. Entertaining and fun for the entire family, Sight and Sound Theatres create a deeper spiritual relationship with God and memories that will last
