As I learned more about task group, I gained a clearer understanding as to why I enjoy working in task groups. “The creation of task groups is to find solutions to organizational problems generate new ideas and make changes” (Muskat, Winter 2016) I found the concept thought-provoking that education groups were an element of treatment groups based on its provisions; before reviewing the Module, I understood education groups to a component of task group. After reviewing module two, I learned that treatment groups cover supports, education, growth therapy and socialization (Muskat, Winter 2016). Mesbur stated in her work; Social group work practice: The Canadian experience that; “as defined in Toseland and Rivas (1995) ‘"the term treatment group is used to signify a group whose major purpose is to meet members ' socio-emotional needs....In in contrast, the term task group is used to signify any group in which the major purpose is neither intrinsically nor immediately linked to the needs of the members of the group. In task groups, the overriding purpose is to accomplish a mandate and complete the work for which the group was convened" (Mesbur, 2002) gained perspective into my own understanding of groups. We made sure that every post that was submitted was commented on by every member of the pod. We were cognizant to post a positive note thanking the person for their insight once their post was up. Every member of the pod participated in this discussion. We presented a non-threatening pod environment that was very appealing for members to share with the group. This was mentioned by member of the group. “Norms are shared expectations and beliefs about ways to behave" (Muskat, Winter 2016); once our norms were set, I was in agreement with them. One of our group members Whitney commented that “we lucked out” with our group members because we all participate and we have very similar values which created a strong foundation for our norms.
