I personally believe that the bible has all the answers one wishes to know. One might only want to follow the Bible’s wise remarks, and advise. To allow the Bible to become an authoritative source in your life may be dangerous. It may become dangerous because one should keep in mind that the Bible was written many years ago. Some passages written in the Bible may be life applying, while the rest were probably local. The bible, for me, isn’t fully authoritative. I only follow the life lessons that the bible has taught me. An example of one was the famous saying by Jesus where he was questioned about the tax that Julius Caesar once taxed. Jesus went on to say, “ Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and give to God what is God’s.” Very moving saying, definitely one to live by! Overall the Bible should have some authority on everyone, as it sure does on me. The 10 commandments is another example of what one should follow. It really depends on where you search for answers in the Bible. The Old Testament is hard to assimilate when it comes to finding authoritative life lessons that could help in life. The New Testament is another story. The New Testament is closer to our era, therefore some of the passages in the New Testament can directly relate with the modern era we live …show more content…
A survey shown in class, demonstrated what one might consider what a sin is. Anything from the consumption of alcohol, to bad words was on the list. Personally I think a sin occurs when you don’t follow the Ten Commandments given by God. Why is it that that we sin? Well, if we go back to time sin came to this world because of a woman named Eve. She ate from the forbidden tree that God had instructed her and Adam, the first man, to not eat from. Adam and Eve ended up eating from this tree, and according to my embedded theology sin came upon us after that first bite. From that day on, we humans sin at all time. John Wesley might argue against the fact that we humans sin at all times. He believes that we don’t sin every day in word, thought, and deed. Even if he is right, we cant help not sinning. I feel that as much as we try not to, we still sin. Then again that refers to what one might think a sin is. I don’t think sinning is purposeful. People don’t have to sin, but I believe it happens accidently at points. I don’t think anyone woke up saying; “Today is a good day to sin.” This being said, people don’t have to sin. In class the option of filling your life with so much holiness might prevent evil and sin to enter ones life. So in other words, we don’t always have to sin, and when we can, we should stop whatever were doing and think if it’s something God would want us
