Abortion the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Abortion is still legal in the United States because there are huge discrepancies on what constitutes human life, although in Texas Anti-choice politicians are trying to outlaw abortion at 20 weeks or earlier, making it more and more difficult for women seeking abortion to find a safe clinic. This is interesting because the Roe v. Wade case of 1973 decided a right to privacy under the Due Process Clause of the 14th amendment extended to a woman’s decision to have an abortion. Abortions have an effect on people, whether their situation is hard or easy, however an abortion may be the best for them at the time. Most women know the reality of having an abortion is a hard choice, because of ridicule from others, complications with the procedure, or potential emotional distress. I believe from a medical standpoint there are not that many disadvantages to having an abortion. With that being said, there are always some risk to any medical operation and an abortion is nothing but an operation that is performed to remove a non-viable fetus from a woman’s womb. Some of these risks include complications from the surgery, like excessive bleeding, damage to the woman’s womb, and in some cases even death. However, there are other ways, having an abortion can negatively impact a person’s life. I say a person’s life because in a lot of instances, it not only affects the woman, but it can also affect the man as well as the other people in that woman’s life. It can hurt the man in the relationship by causing him to have resentment for the woman if he wanted to keep the child and she had the abortion anyway. Abortions can also impact her emotionally, which can sometimes be much more devastating than any physical damage that the procedure could cause. In most cases abortions affect the woman more than the man because it is the woman who has to have the procedure done to her body. Also a woman's body still reacts as if she is still pregnant even though she is not. The emotional anguish of an abortion is hard to deal with, yet the physical pain will only take a few weeks to
