What three elements does the backplate consist of? |
Adjustable shoulder yoke (Short, Medium, Long)
The Backplate made from moulded carbon composite
Waist belt pivot slide assembly which improves weight distribution and manoeuvrability (2/3rds of weight carried on hips, bergen principal) |
What 3 elements doesHarness consist of? |
Pair of adjustable shoulder straps (made from flame retardant, closed cell, vulcanised foam)
Chest strap ( with trident buckle)
Pair of pull forward waist belt ( with push-in quick release trident buckle) |
What are all the straps made from? |
50% Kevlar webbing, nylon and panotex |
What is the cylinder strap attached too? |
Cam lock buckle (made from glass filled nylon) |
What is the reducers function? |
Reduces compressed air in the cylinder (200-300 bar) down to 6-9 bar |
What happens when the reducer reaches 11-16 bar? |
Medium pressure hose line has a pressure relief valve. A Spring lifts up expels air and relocates once pressure is reduced. |
What pressure does the medium hose carry? |
6-9 bar |
What pressure does the high pressure hose carry? |
200-300 bar |
What material are the hoses made of? |
EPDM (Ethylene Polpylene Diene Monomer) |
What is inside the high pressure rubber hose? |
copper capillary that tube that is a coil wound around a multi strand length of bronze. |
What are the Buckles made from |
Stainless Steel buckles which are anti spark & sljp |
What does the Lung Demand valve do? |
The LDV has a reset button, which stops the free flow of air. Also has a supplementary air button, when activated allows free flow of air. |
What is the LDV made of? |
Glass filled nylon |
How does LDV work? |
First breath principle. Air will not be delivered until wearer inhales. Second reducer located in the LDV, reduces 6-9 bar down to breathable pressure. |
Operating Pressures of LDV |
First breath minus 1 to minus 25 bar Reduced into mask 1 to 3.9 Activate exhaustion valve. 4.2 to 5.7 |
Explain the Facemask |
Large distortion free, anti-scratch polycarbonate visor which is heat and impact resistant. |
What rubber is on face mask? |
Hypoallergenic and is made from neoprene. |
What does the oral-nasal consist of? |
Two mushroom valves, prevents carbon dioxide and condensation build up. |
Name of Head harness? |
5 point spider head harness, with stsinless steel Buckles. |
Flow of air? |
Pressurised air from the cylinder (200-300 bar) flows through anti debris tube which contains a bronze sintered filter. Then flows through the cylinder valve, turns 90 degrees which reduces velocity but not pressure. Enters the high pressure and medium pressure side of the reducer. High pressure side enters the copper capillary tube which goes to the EMU. Air flowing through medium pressure side enters large compartments and reduces down to 6-9 bar. Then goes to the LDV and another chamber, which reduces the air further to a breathable rate (1 - 3.9). As you inhale, the chamber exceeds 4.2-5.7 bar, excess air is then expelled into atmosphere via exhalation valve |
Full and Working duration? |
Full duration 48 Working duration 36 Avg. Consumption rate of 500 litres per minute |
Cylinder capacity |
300 bar, 2430 of compressed air |
