According to my Seven Habits Profile, I scored high in “Begin with an End in Mind.” I have the ability see where a project, team member or organization is and visualize the steps it needs to take to be successful. I pride myself in being able to make goals within my position and determine a route for success. I routinely take time to think and research various ideas that I believe will be beneficial for my position, team members and organization. I regularly relay my vision with my team members at meetings, in discussions and via email. In both my personal and professional life, I work to adapt to situations as required. With my team members, I understand that I need to adjust my leadership style according to each person. I currently have team members who have varying levels of need. Some team members need direction, while others need coaching. I also have some team members who I can entrust to do their assigned tasks with minimal direction. I must be able to adapt to the needs of my team members for us to ultimately be successful. …show more content…
I hold weekly all team meetings where projects and issues pertaining to the organization are discussed. I also meet individually once per week with my team members to give them an opportunity to discuss their work one-on-one with me. I hold the expectation that everyone will clearly communicate their needs and any issues should they arise. As the leader, I communicate the goals for the team with input provided from its members. Zenger (2013) states, “The leader himself or herself is the strongest force for creating high levels of engagement and commitment within his or her people.” (p.3).
