Animals In Captivity Research Paper

Decent Essays
Animals in captivity are longley, cramped, bored, deprived from their natural habitat. How would you feel if you were in their positions? If you were put on display in cement box with metal bars. Thousands of people walking past and staring at you, when you're used to seeing trees in the sunset and rise. Losing the way to hunt due to food being just thrown at you. Having rivalries and being used just swimming or walking away but now you are forced to face it head on. Having to be ripped away from your family and friends because they can't support all of your lifestyles together. Being at the top of the food chain and now you are treated like nothing and just something that could be replaced if you acts up. Having miles and miles to roaming

Humans make several choices a day whether it’s when to eat, what to eat, who to speak with and so on. Unlike humans, animals in captivity have little to no choices in their daily lives because most of their alternatives are made for them by their human caretakers. Due to the lack of control, animals in captivity may develop learned helplessness. This phenomenon learned helplessness is when a person, or a nonhuman ape, internalizes the idea that his or her actions have no effect on the environment. Human caretakers are now finding ways to give some control back to animals by giving them choices in their daily lives and this is highly emphasized throughout the reading.…

I believe, like many others, that keeping animals in captivity isn’t right. Keeping them in cages will make them feel lonely, because no matter what, you can’t copy their environment, and their family won’t be there. Some feel that it would be educational for us, and safer for them. However, research shows that animals are prepared for what’s out there for them, and it also shows the best way for us to learn is by watching them in their natural habitat. I believe that animals should be free for three reasons.…

For years, protection for many animals living on farms and among the wild has been held by the government or corporations. This protection means the control of all animal welfare rights such as living conditions and bodily harm to animals. Now with more NGOs (Non-governmental Organizations) increasing rapidly, animals rights can be protected with tighter constraints attached to existing animal welfare laws.…
