First of all, homework causes stress on students. We may as well just spend all day at school if we are having school at home anyways. Students should go to school, work on “school” work, then come home and not do “school” work at home. This would increase the productivity and attitudes of students. I, for one, would be in a much better mood concerning school if I knew that I didn’t have to look forward to coming home to more school work.…

Did you know, homework was viewed as a sin during the Progressive Era because it deprived children from their play time? Today, society is expressing similar concerns. Homework seldom improves academic performance. Sure, through homework one can get high scores in a standardized test, but in my own point of view using standardized tests as indicators of how well a student understands a lesson can be inaccurate. Students tend to memorize and not understand the lesson in means of studying for a test.…

After spending their entire day in school, children are usually given extra assignments to complete at home when they could be spending that crucial time with family. My Declaration of Independence I am here today to announce my frustration with the amount of homework given on any day. The problem with all of the homework is that some people have other things to do, and may not have time to complete all of the given homework. I think it’s safe to say that the amount of homework is just a bit too much, and not completing all of it seriously can bring down some grades for people. People do not deserve to have homework in every class, almost every day.…

Abeles writes, " daily homework of many students is as long as lawyers, teachers, medical residents. " I agree many students get a lot of homework in a day from all the classes combined. To a teacher assigning homework may think that he/she is not giving a lot of homework for the night, but combined with all the other teacher's homework kids get overworked. I can remember a time in high school when I got math homework about 20 questions. Then I went to my English class and had to read a chapter from a book and answer a few questions.…

Critical Annotation The word “homework” makes children angry or sad, simply because they know homework is meant to be done at home. While some students have several after school activities, the amount of homework they have to do is overbearing from them. The amount of homework isn’t only an issue in the US, but also in other countries too. Parents feel like their children are receiving too much, and it becomes a problem in the household, where it interferes with family time or other activities.…

There are so many reasons people are pro homework. People say “it helps them become smarter or helps them on test,” But there is a lack of evidence where it actually supports their claims, that it helps students at all especially at such a young age. with Alfie Khon “The positive effects of homework are largely mythical.”(Khon). It also seems that homework is being forced onto younger students more often than the older ones. There are various effective arguments I would make to support students having homework by their teachers. The first argument I would make is that homework helps students to better retain the lessons they’ve learned during the school day. Students need a lot of exercises to do to retain what they learn everyday in school. Since class time isn’t enough to provide a lot of exercises on one subject, homework is the best way to exercise what’s been learned in class. If no homework is given to students on a subject that’s been discussed in class, it’s more likely for them to forget the subject the next day.…
