Students must believe in hard work and effort instead of natural intelligence to increase their own success at Anaheim High school. The Secret to Raising Smart kids, Carol S Dweck’s article gives the reader a lot of reasons as to why students with a growth mindset outscore those the with a fixed mindset. The belief that students are born smart should change to everyone because really all it is is just determination “such children hold an implicit belief that intelligence is innate and fixed, making striving to learn to seem far less important”(21). Most students who have this mindset usually think that’s why even try because they won’t get the hang of it, but this is a lie because the only difference between those who think this and those who are “naturally smart” is grit. The students that have grit always tend to outscore others because they keep on pushing themselves for what they want and don't give up till they actually understand it or get what it was they wanted were striving for.
