ESSAY: Describe the development of writing, including at least three cultures that were instrumental in its development. Explain why writing is so important to civilization. |
Sumerians developed writing called cuneiform and preserved many written records. The Hebrews developed Sinai script as their writing and the Phoenicians developed a 22- consonant alphabet. Writing is so important to us because without it we wouldn't have any written record preserving history, traditions of people, or literature. If it weren't for others developing a form of writing we would have a Bible to read. |
