ESSAY: Describe the development of writing, including at least three cultures that were instrumental in its development. Explain why writing is so important to civilization.

Sumerians developed writing called cuneiform and preserved many written records. The Hebrews developed Sinai script as their writing and the Phoenicians developed a 22- consonant alphabet. Writing is so important to us because without it we wouldn't have any written record preserving history, traditions of people, or literature. If it weren't for others developing a form of writing we would have a Bible to read.
