What does the collective stick control?

Pitch. Changes the angle of all four blades at the same time increasing or decreasing lift

What does the cyclic stick control?

Roll. Changes the pitch of the swash plate which changes the angle of one blade at a time allowing the aircraft to roll left, right, pitch up or pitch down

What do the rudder pedals control?

Yaw. Changes the angle of the tail paddles which controls heading

What objects make accessing the aircraft safer?

Handholds, steps and walkways

What is cancer causing on the aircraft?

Copper Beryllium

Describe the paint design

Flat coatings protects the a/c from corrosion and other forms of deterioration, but also reduces glare. To reduce visual detection by matching reflection of operational surroundings

Where are the main rotor head dampers installed?

Between the hub and spindles

What are two methods for locking/unlocking the tail wheel lockpin?

Electrically and manual

three white bands

When the pressure in the spar in not within limits, how many bands will show?

three black bands will show

What is the main function of the Wire Strike protection systems?

To protect the helicopter incase the airframe comes in contact with wires in its path of flight

What does the system consists of?

seven cutter blades, (2 on hydraulics bay door [dog house], 2 nose avionics bay door, 1 in front of each landing gear) to cut the wire, and deflectors to deflect

The main landing gear supports the helicopter when?

While on the ground and cushions the aircraft during landings

The tail landing gear system consists of?

RAST provides a means to do what?

Assist landing and securing an airborne helicopter to the flight deck of a sea going ship

How are access points identified?

Access and inspection openings are identified by three digit number,

First number indicates work area

Second number indicates side (1 left, 2 right, or 0 center)

Third number is panel number
