What are the four things that animal and plant cells have in common? |
A nucleus, a cytoplasm, the cell membrane and the mitochondria |
Remember that plants photosynthesis and animals don't. |
|
Describe bacteria cells. |
Bacteria are microscopic, unicellular organisms. They don't have a nucleus. They have two types of DNA which are chromosomal (long circular chromosome) and plasmid (smaller loops of DNA). They also have a cell wall. They can only be seen with a powerful electron microscope. They have a flagellum which is a long hair-like structure which rotates to make the bacterium move. |

Describe the structure of DNA. |
A molecule DNA has two strands coiled together in the shape of a double helix. The two strands are held together by chemicals called bases. There are 4 different bases called adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T). The rule is that A pairs with T and C pairs with G. This is called base pairing. Thee bases are held together by weak hydrogen bonds. |
Remember to talk about base pairs. |
