- Leaning of the vehicle - Oil, coolant, grease, or fuel leaks - Around the vehicle for hazards to movement - Make sure parking braking/chocks are set

Inspect condition and check for leaks on: - Water pump - Mounted securely? - Alternator - Mounted securely? |

- Indicate where dipstick is located - See that oil level is within safe operating range and level is above refill mark |

- When engine isn't hot, remove radiator cap and check for visible coolant level |

- Indicated where power steering fluid dipstick is located -Check for adequate power steering fluid level (above refill mark) |

Cab Check - Oil Pressure Gauge |
- Make sure oil pressure gauge is working - Check that gauge shows increasing or normal pressure or that the warning light goes off - If equipped, oil temp should begin to gradually rise |

- Make sure the temp gauge is working - Temp should begin to climb to normal or temp light should be off |

Cab Check - Ammeter/Voltmeter |
Check that the gauges show alternator and/or generator is charging or that the warning light is off |

Cab Check - Mirrors & Windshield
|
- Mirrors should be clean and adjusted properly from the inside
- Windshield should be clean with no illegal stickers, no obstructions, or damage to the glass |

- Check for spare electrical fuses - Check for 3 red reflective triangles - Check for properly charged and rated fire extinguisher |

- Power steering check - With engine running, check for excessive play. Should not exceed 10% (2" on a 20" wheel) before front left wheel barely moves |

- Check that wiper arms and blades are secure, not damaged, and operate smoothly - Windshield wiper washers must work correctly |

Cab Check - Lights/Reflectors/Reflector Tape Condition |
- Test that dash indicators work when corresponding lights are turned on - Turn signals - Four-way emergency flashers - High-beam headlight - Antilock Braking System (ABS) indicator |

- Check they are clean and functional - Clearance lights - Headlights/ Taillights - Back lights - Turn signals - Brake lights - License plate light |

Cab Check - Parking Brake Check |
- Fasten seat belt - With parking brake on, gently try to pull forward |

Cab Check - Hydraulic Brake Check |
- Pump brake pedal 3 times, hold it down for 5 seconds. Brake pedal should not move (depress) during the five seconds - Reserve (back up) system, with key off, depress brake and listen for reserve electric motor. |

Cab Check - Service Brake Check |
- Pull forward at 5mph, apply brake, and stop. - Check that the vehicle doesn't pull to one side and that it stops |

Cab Check - Safety Belt |
- Check that the safety belt is securely mounted, adjusts, and latches properly - Check that it's not ripped or frayed |

Steering - Box/Hoses |
- Check it's securely mounted and not leaking. Look for missing nuts, bolts, and cotter keys - Check for power steering fluid leaks or damage to power steering hoses |

Steering - Linkage |
- See that connecting links, arms, & rods from the box to the wheel are not worn or cracked - Check that joints and sockets are not worn or loose and that there are no missing nuts, bolts, or cotter keys |

Suspension - Springs/Air/Torque |
- Look for missing, shifted, cracked, or broken leaf springs. If 1/4 or more are missing or broken it will put the vehicle out of service - Look for broken/distorted coil springs |

Suspension - Mounts |
-Look for cracked or broken spring hangers, missing or damaged bushings, and broken, loose, or missing bolts, u-bolts or |

Suspension - Shock Absorbers |
- Check they are secure and there are no leaks |
|
Brakes - Slack Adjusters & Push Rods |
- Check that slack adjuster is securely mounted - Look for broken, loose, or missing parts - With the brakes released, the brake pushrod should not move more than 1" when pulled by hand |

Brakes - Brake Chamber |
- See that brake chambers are not leaking, cracked, or dented and are mounted securely - See that there are no loose or missing clamps |

Brakes - Hoses/Lines |
Look for cracked, worn, or leaking hoses, lines, and couplings |

Brakes - Drum Brake |
- Check for cracks, dents, or holes. Also check for loose or missing bolts - Check for contaminates such as debris or oil & grease - Brake linings should not be worn dangerously thin |

Brakes - Brake Linings |
- On some brake drums, there are openings where the brake linings can be seen from outside. For this type, check that a visible amount of brake lining is showing. |

Wheels - Rims |
- Check for damaged or bent rims - Rims cannot have welding repairs -No rust trails that would indicated the wheel is loose |

Wheels - Tires - Tread Depth |
- Minimum tread depth - 4/32" on steering - Minimum tread depth - 2/32" on rear

Wheels - Tires - Tire Condition |
- Check that tread is evenly work - Look for cuts or other damage on tread or sidewall - Make sure that valve caps and stems are not missing, broken, or damaged |

Wheels - Tires - Tire Inflation |
- Using a tire gauge check for proper inflation - The Green should be 120 PSI |

Wheels - Hub Oil Seals / Axle Seals |
- See that hub oil/grease seals and axle seals are not leaking and, if sight glass, that level is adequate |

Wheels - Lug Nuts |
- Check all lug nuts are present, free of cracks and distortions, and no signs of looseness like rust or shiny threads - Make sure all bolt holes are not cracked or distorted |

Wheels - Spacers |
- Check they are not bent, damaged, or rusted through - See they are evenly centered with dual wheels and tires evenly separated - No debris between dual tires |

Side of Vehicle - Doors, Mirrors, & Windows |
- Check that doors are not damaged and that they open and close properly from the outside - Hinges should be secure with seals intact - Check that mirrors and mirror brackets are not damaged and are secured with no loose fittings -Windows are clean and work properly |

Side of Vehicle - Fuel Tank |
- Check that the tank is secured, cap is tight, and that there are no leaks from tank, cap, or lines. |

Side of Vehicle - Drive Shaft |
- See that drive shaft is not bent or cracked - Couplings (U-joints) should be secure and free of foreign objects |

Side of Vehicle - Exhaust System |
- Check system for damage, signs of leaks such as rust or carbon soot - System should be connected tightly and mounted securely |

- Look for cracks, broken, welds, holes or other damage to the longitudinal frame members, cross members, box, and floor |

Rear of Vehicle - Splash Guards |
- Check they are not damaged and are mounted securely |

- Check that doors and hinges are not damaged and that they open, close, and latch properly from the outside. - Ties, straps, chains, and binders must be secure - If cargo lift, look for leaking, damaged or missing parts and explain how it should be checked for correct operation - Lift must be fully retracted and latched securely |
