Describe each of the following as a cause of war in 1898

. The first important contribution to the 1898 war was yellow journalism. This did the job of making people want to have war to hate General Weyler for all the atrocities it did to Cuba. Yellow journalism did the job of creating a public opinion. Public opinion would come in second because the opinions of the people would have not existed without the allurement of Hearst’s sensationalist stories.Business interest would come in third because the war was not started due to misunderstands in business and strategic interest come in last for the same reason as the Business interest.

Assess the wisdom of the following in regards to the new Americans acquisitions following the Spanish American war.

the Teller Amendment: Cuba would remain independent. Cuba had revolted against Spain and once Spain had left the island, the US said they wouldn't annex Cuba but after a few years American troops remained in Cuba.the Platt Amendment: The US has a right of virtual intervention of Cuba. This would include American naval bases in Cuba. This gave the US control over Cuba's foreign affairs. This allowed congress to do as they pleases with the country taken over.

This rivalry made the US select the land they wanted depending on how well they contributed to the United States trading interests. After this would be trading interest in which the US began where they exported more than they imported and during this time there was a need for global competition which lead the US to take over some of the weak nations such as Hawaii and benefit from their cheap resources (sugar).race.

The text authors claim that “America did not start the [Spanish-American War] with imperialistic motives, but [because of the war], it wound up with imperial and colonial fruits in its grasp.” Do you agree with this version of American actions in 1898? Why or why not?

Thesis: Although the text authors claim that America did not start the war with imperialistic motives, but because of the war, it wound up with imperial and colonial fruits in its grasp, America’s actions in 1898 were imperialistic from the very beginning.Cuba had revolutionized against the Spanish control, giving the US an opportunity to expand there too. US had sparked the revolution of Cuba by messing with Cuba's economy. Later in the Havana, an American warship exploded. The reasons for this are unknown but America went for war. This led them to taking Spain out of Cuba and also the
